2025 Class Offerings

Unfolding Jitney

Immerse yourself in Pulitzer Prize winner August Wilson’s Jitney! Lean in and learn more about this important and impactful play. This class will be led by the multi-talented Aldo Billingslea, a distinguished regional and national theatre maker and educator, seen onstage in our 2025 Jitney and Fat Ham. Don’t miss meaningful insights from guests including OSF Artistic Director Tim Bond, who directs our production this year. This exciting weekend includes an option for tickets to Jitney and Julius Caesar.

April 5 – Saturday class time, 9am–12pm: Prepare to see Jitney with deeper context. Learn more about August Wilson, the background of Jitney, and the production process for OSF’s 2025 production. Features company members and director Tim Bond.
Saturday night: See Jitney at 8pm.
April 6 – Sunday class time, 9am–12pm: Round out your experience with a post-show conversation highlighting the insight and experience of company members who worked on Jitney.

Unfolding Julius Caesar

Take a deep dive into Shakespeare’s most popular political play, Julius Caesar. Get to know the characters and their world as they grapple with the consequences of their ambition, honor, and quest for power. This class will be taught by OSF’s Associate Artistic Director, Rosa Joshi, who directs this year’s dynamic production. Learn more about her production company, upstart crow collective, their muscular approach to Shakespeare, and the ways Joshi and the production team cracked this play open for this particular moment. This theatre-packed weekend includes an option for tickets to both Julius Caesar and Jitney.

May 16 – Friday night: Launch into your experience and watch Jitney, by Pulitzer Prize winner August Wilson, at 8pm.
May 17 – Saturday class time, 9am–12pm: Prepare to watch Caesar as you delve into the play. Learn more about Shakespeare and his inspiration for this story. Rosa Joshi will lead the class through context-building instruction, deepened by guests who will share their expertise in developing OSF’s 2025 production.
Saturday night: See Julius Caesar at 8pm.
May 18 – Sunday class time, 9am–12pm: Wrap up the class with a post-show conversation featuring company members who worked on Julius Caesar.
